Rostelecom plans to put into commercial operation the cable system connecting Nakhodka (Russia) and Naoettsy (Japan), said the deputy director general, director of the Far Eastern subsidiary Ivan Zimin, RBC reports. Rostelecom is building the submerged fiber-optic communication line on parity basis with the Japanese KDDI Corporation, whose contractor is the Japanese NEC. The system consists of two parallel cable lines 900 kilometers long. The total length is 1800 kilometers. About 800 kilometers have been already laid down. The maximum depth of sunken into the seabed reaches 1.1 meters. The cable system is planned to be built in July-August 2008, after that the cable line will be tested for 1.5-2 months and then launched into exploitation.
